Summary Race Day 2 - World Cup 2025

Race Day Two!
Finally, back on the water after two days of moody weather — and wow, it felt good! We had a steady 10–15 knots blowing in from the southeast, easily the best wind we’ve had all World Cup week. With three races on the schedule, we knew it’d be a packed day — and it didn’t disappoint.
Race 1 kicked off with Yquem II nailing the start and making a clear impact on the first upwind leg. At the first upwind those who got a good start took the left side of the course and the chasing pack headed to the right. And here the right side seemed to be a good choice for both German team on Starling Burgess and the Finnish female team onboard IF who were able to catch up and was in top five to round the mark.
The same pattern was repeated on the second round – those picking the right side of Airisto impressed with their upwind sailing. Starling Burgess did an impressive race finishing not as far from Yquem II as earlier races. And the female team at IF took their best position ever coming in third.
Race 2 saw Andromeda and Vågspel launch off the line with style, holding strong positions all race long, Andromeda taking their best position so far coming in second in this regatta. Yquem II led around the top mark, chased by the Austrian team at Pandora and the ever-persistent Starling Burgess. Also, Falcon was close to the top three, but did a self-imposed 360 penalty turn after a close call at the mark— a classy move, even though it cost them some spots.
Things got dramatic on the second upwind mark when Iroquois and Sphinx collided — a tense moment. As a result, Iroquois was disqualified from the race — a tough call, but fair under the rules.
Downwind, the action heated up with teams taking different tactical routes and rolling the dice on spinnaker size.
By the third Race the wind had picked up a bit to even over 15 knots. Race 3 brought this days drama to a close with Yquem II and Starling Burgess continuing their strong runs. Now also Falcon and Luna got up to the top results. The fleet fanned out on the upwind leg with varied strategies, but the downwind was more of a parade — boats trailing each other evenly to the finish.

All in all? A gorgeous day on the water —full of good breeze, smart sailing, and unforgettable moments.
