History
Built in 1930 by the Camper & Nicholsons shipyard, designed by Charles E. Nicholson, VISION was commissioned by a Canadian consortium for the Canada’s Cup, a prestigious sailing competition often compared to the America’s Cup of the Great Lakes. It was the only one of the yachts built for this purpose to be designed by the English shipyard.
Once the Canada’s Cup campaign was completed, VISION was sold at auction among the members of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, joining other boats of the same class, forming a historic fleet of 8 Metre yachts that raced for many years in Canadian waters.
Starting in the early 1980s, VISION began competing in World Cup races in Europe, and in the 1990s, it was transferred to France, where it continued its competitive career until 2000.
After a careful restoration that was started by the Pasquì Shipyard in Villefranche and later completed by the SIBMA Shipyard, owned by the Quaranta family, in Imperia, VISION returned to racing. In 2022 and 2023, it secured second place in the Neptune category at the World Cup, and in 2024, it won in both the categories Neptune and Sira at the World Cup in the waters of the Clyde, Scotland.
