This August, the shores of Turku will come alive with the thrill of the 8 Metre World Cup, one of sailing’s most beautiful and prestigious competitions.

Marvel at these elegant, vintage yachts — over 15 meters long with towering sails — as they battle through the waters of the world’s most stunning archipelago. The races are thrilling, the atmosphere is electric, and the historic Ruissalo Shipyard offers the perfect setting with cafés, restaurants, and entertainment for all ages.

With easy access by boat and public transport, you don’t need to be a sailor to enjoy the show — just bring your curiosity and let the wind, water, and world-class competition amaze you.

Accommodation

Right next to the race harbour, on the shores of a oak forest once the hunting grounds for the court of Turku Castle, you’ll find 19th century villas for rent during the regatta. We’ve also negotiated preferential room rates in hotels located in the city center right next to the river of Aura from where you can grab a water bus taking you straight to the race harbour in just 10 minutes.
