Details
Andromeda likes a bit of wind and so does her crew. Andromeda weighs 9,6 ton and has an exceptionally long waterline. Being a boat from 1948 she also has other interesting characteristics, such as a quite short J measurement. Andromeda and Vågspel (L-6) are both built at Wilenius båtvarv in Porvoo. The beauties were competing more than 70 years ago outside Sandhamn, Sweden. Three sisters were built at Wilenius båtvarv, Katrina, Vågspel and Andromeda. They all have different designers, and they are all the only eights realized by these designers. In the second picture Andromeda looks varnished, although she was painted red at this point of her life. Arvid Laurin is responsible for Andromedas lines. To determine competitive edge Tore Holm and Arvid Laurin were both asked to deliver drawings for the yacht. The more compelling design was chosen. This way of choosing a design was not especially common. Andromedas original name was Clary, which is the name of the wife of the original owner. The Viaporin Tuoppi wooden boat event is often frequented by more than two generations of sailors onboard every boat. Andromeda is a yacht connecting five families. Andromeda is also used for cruising with the family, she is equipped with an inboard diesel engine and sleeps six persons comfortably in her generous interior.
